From Zero to Award-Winning MVP
A unified, athlete-first design system for a truly global SportsTech brand.
About Our Client
RAWW is a SportsTech startup built by former professional athletes and coaches. Their mission is to help student-athletes unlock college opportunities and navigate life beyond sports, while giving recruiters and coaches a smarter way to discover talent and manage outreach.
RAWW app in action
Problem
Despite a strong founding vision, RAWW was starting from zero on product and brand:
Two very different primary audiences: trend-sensitive student-athletes and time-poor recruiters
No existing product experience, design system, or visual language to unify the platform.
The app needed to feel like a personal companion for athletes and a professional, reliable tool for coaches.
Brand, UX, and UI had to launch together as an MVP that could scale into a global platform.
Precious Approach
We approached RAWW as both a product and a tribe, starting with deep discovery and alignment with the founders to understand athlete and coach mindsets, recruiting workflows, and NIL opportunities. From there, we defined an audience-led brand strategy that balances hype for athletes with trust and clarity for coaches, then translated it into a unified design system and MVP-ready UX that gets student-athletes quickly from sign-up to a visible, recruiter-ready profile.
Solution: A unified experience for athletes & coaches
A brand both sides can wear proudly
Introduced contextual micro animations to highlight AI assistance without disrupting flow. Visual cues distinguish AI actions from user actions.
Companion app for student-athletes
Every animation serves a function. confirming actions, signaling state changes, directing attention.
Efficient tools for recruiters & coaches
Designed dopamine-triggering animations at key success moments. Motion design amplifies positive reinforcement, creating habit-forming feedback loops that drive retention.
Technical Execution & Design System
We built RAWW on a unified, mobile-first design system that keeps the entire product consistent and scalable. It includes a reusable component library for cards, lists, dashboards, and profile layouts that work seamlessly across both athlete and coach journeys. All typography, spacing, and color decisions were fully tokenized, ensuring future teams can expand the product without breaking visual consistency. Shared interaction patterns maintain flow continuity across profiles, search, and recommendations, and the entire system is designed to extend effortlessly into the web experience, marketing site, and future features with zero rework.

Key Takeaways
Design systems are leverage, not decoration: shipping an MVP with a real system in place keeps future features on-brand and on-time.
Multi-sided products need multi-lens UX: building for athletes and coaches from day one avoids painful retrofits later.
Brand and product must ship together: in categories like SportsTech, your interface is your brand for most users.
